Thanksgiving Activities for the Entire Table
Thanksgiving is almost here, and we can't wait to celebrate with those around us. To make the most out of the holiday, we put together some fun activities that guests of all ages will enjoy.
1. Have a crescent-rolling competition with store-bought crescent dough. Whoever rolls the most in one minute gets bragging rights, but everybody wins because you end up with tons of crescents to eat with dinner.
2. Host a Dad Joke contest. Everyone brings at least one punny Dad joke and vote for your favorite. Need ideas? Check out our favorites here.
3. Draw classic hand turkeys and decorate. When everyone's done, guess who drew which turkey!
4. Play "I Spy" with the Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV. "I spy a giant inflatable character" is technically allowed, but potentially frowned upon.
5. Have the kids create a seating chart. We love using big rolls of craft paper that can cover an entire table, so there's a canvas for all the doodles. The only requirement is labeling each place setting with a guest's name – kids can fill in the rest however they please to make a fun and unique tablecloth.
6. Have everyone bring a conversation starter question to keep the whole table talking. Need some ideas? Start here.
7. Three words: Mashed potato sculptures. Challenge everyone to make the most creative structure, with bonus points for incorporating other menu items. We all know the gravy was made to be hot molten lava in a potato volcano.
8. When dinner's over, play dessert roulette! Get some plastic spoons, and write a number 1-12 on each handle. Place each spoon on a different dessert and cover with a napkin. A roll of a dice will decide which dessert you get! For higher stakes add in a few options that are less popular (fruit cake and raisins, your time to shine is now).
9. Collect some leaves before the sun sets, and set up a Leaf Art Coloring station once the table is cleared.
