Primary's Top 20 Halloween Costumes of 2024
Make your own magic with 20 easy, adorable DIY costumes!
Happy spooky season! Our favorite time of year is finally here, and we’ve made our picks for the very best easy DIY Halloween costumes. Our rallying cry this year is Make Your Own Magic, and so this year’s round-up contains a mix of pop culture hits, new magical creations, and customer favorites that remind us just how enchanting Halloween can be for all ages.
All of our DIYs use best-selling Primary basics as the foundational pieces, and come with simple step-by-step instructions. With a wave of the magic wand, we invite you to explore our top 20 costumes for 2024…
1. Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice
IT’S SHOWTIME! With this incredible trio of DIY costumes from our friend Lauren Mancke, we think it’s safe to say that the juice is officially loose. Get the how-to right here.
2. Pommel Horse Guy
All of us at Primary were captivated by the magic of this summer’s competition in Paris, and especially by all the athletes who let their true selves shine through. Recreate Stephen Nedoroscik’s iconic look with our easy DIY guide right here!
3. Inside Out 2
We’re all about embracing our emotions this Halloween, and what we’re feeling is all the joy about our friend (and expert costume maker!) Lauren Mancke’s take on all our fave new Inside Out 2 characters, like Anxiety. Check out this how-to (and the rest of the group!) right here.
4. Chappell Roan
This Chappell Roan costume has us wanting to sing at the top of our lungs. Does D-I-Y-T-O-G-O have the same ring to it? What about you can take some candy to go? We think it works.
5. Beyoncé
Anything is possible: Beyoncé can go country, and you can make your own no-sew DIY Halloween costume! Channel the iconic Cowboy Carter album cover with some western accessories, and don’t forget a four-legged sidekick.
6. Taylor Swift
Don’t mind us, we’re just in our DIY era. There’s a million ways to dress as superstar Taylor Swift, but the fringe on this costume makes twirling for make-believe crowds extra fun. Including a cuddly kitten or a sparkly guitar is not required, but definitely encouraged.
7. Wicked
An iconic friendship that defies gravity—and makes for the perfect DIY Halloween duo costume. It’s easy being green (or pink!) with our basics and simple how-to steps.
8. Minions
We conducted an experiment, and found that baby babbles are 50% cuter when a Minion costume is worn. Or maybe it’s that kids already speak Minionese, the made-up language from Despicable Me, and now their outfits just match. Whichever it is, we highly recommend making this DIY with our new Feel Good denim overalls, and hoodies in a spot-on shade of yellow.
9. Baby Peter Pan
10. Hei Hei (baby & kid)
Sometimes the magic is in the unexpected—and Hei Hei’s here to deliver. DIY your own costume, for the kid (or baby!) who’s not afraid to ruffle some feathers.
11. Bluey & Bingo
12. Kid Magician
13. Baby Rabbit
