Materials

For the Sunglasses Emoji:

  • One yellow kids outfit
  • Black felt (2 sheets 9 x 12 inches each)
  • Double sided fabric tape
  • Scissors

For the Poop Emoji:

  • One brown kids outfit
  • Brown felt (2 sheets 9 x 12 inches each)
  • Brown headband
  • Stuffing (polyfil, felt scraps, tissue, or newspaper)
  • Hot glue gun and sticks
  • White felt (3 sheets 9 x 12 inches each)
  • Black felt (1 sheets 9 x 12 inches)
  • Double sided fabric tape
  • Scissors

A big part of being a parent is teaching kids how to express their emotions, right? But why should the kids use their words when a cute googly-eyed bubble would perfectly suffice? This year, you can show everyone you're the hippest family on the block – there should really be an emoji for that.

Sunglasses Emoji

For the sunglasses:

  • Fold a rectangle of black felt for the sunglasses in half and cut out one half of the sunglasses shape. Unfold, and attach to the top of the top with fabric tape.

For the face:

  • Fold another rectangle of black felt in half and cut out half of a wide U for the mouth. Unfold and attach to the middle of the top under the sunglasses.

Poop Emoji

For the headband:

  • Cut two matching poop emoji shapes from brown felt. Stuff with stuffing and hot glue together.
  • Hot glue the base of the poop shape to a brown headband.

For the face:

  • Cut two long oval eyes from white felt and two long oval irises from black felt. Attach irises to whites of eyes with hot glue and attach to top of the top with fabric tape.
  • Cut a large D shaped mouth from white felt and attach to the top below the eyes with fabric tape.

Stuck Out Tongue Winking Emoji

  • For the face:
  • Cut a large white eye and a smaller black iris from black felt. Cut a crescent moon shape for the winking eye from black felt.
  • Cut out a large black D shape from felt for the open mouth, and red tongue from felt. Use a marker to draw a black line down the center of the of the tongue.
  • Attach all face pieces to the top with fabric tape.

Heart Eyes Emoji

For the face:

  • From red felt, cut out two red hearts for the eyes.
  • Cut out a large D shaped mouth from black felt.
  • Attach all pieces to the dress with fabric tape.
