Instructions
Do you want to pay peanuts for a costume that is sure to leave the whole gallery speechless? Look no further than our DIY Mr. Peanut costume! With some quick and easy DIY magic and our soft reusable Primary zip footie, get ready to feast your eyes upon the cutest little peanut in town.
For the peanut:
- Use an egg crate foam (or yellow soundproofing foam) and cut two large peanut shapes from it - one for the front and one for the back of the body.
- Cut them big enough to be able to wrap around the child’s body. Cut a circle for the face opening and hot glue the perimeter of the peanut pieces together, leaving openings for the arms and legs.
- Use a black marker to draw a few small rectangles on the bottom right side of the peanut.
- Cut a long vertical slit down the center of the back foam to make an opening to get into the costume. If your child isn’t mobile yet, no need to close up the back opening, but if they are mobile, use safety pins to hold it closed.
For the hat:
- Cut a large circle from black foam. (A large round dinner plate works great to trace!) Cut a sheet of black craft foam to 8”x18”.
- Roll into a tube and hot glue together along the 8” edge.
- Hot glue the base to the center of the circle foam piece to make the hat. Hot glue the hat askew onto the peanut head.
For the monocle:
- With a black pipe cleaner, bend one end into a circle and twist together. Leave the rest of the pipe cleaner straight.
- Hot glue the tip of the monocle to the bottom edge of the hat.
